St. Simon Art and Poetry Celebrated During National Poetry Month

St. Simon Students, with the support of the Parish Poet in Residence, Christine Moore, took poetry month to a new level with a poetry invasion.  Poems written by the fifth grade about everyday places and spaces on campus are installed on fences, doors, trees, and walls for all to enjoy. Students in many grades levels have been taking on this expressive form in written prose, research on poets, and poetry analysis. One extra special poem will be placed next to the spectacular four foot by seven foot popsicle stick quilt created with 1500 painted sticks from all the students. The poem speaks to diversity, unity, and appreciating everyone’s unique gifts.  Read more here.
